With nearly four decades of IT experience, Gareth Copplestone-Jones has become a pillar of expertise in the Db2 for z/OS community. From hands-on systems programming to global consulting, Gareth’s journey reflects his commitment to making mainframe environments stronger, more efficient, and future-ready.
As Head of Infrastructure Services at Triton Consulting, Gareth leads initiatives that improve performance, reduce costs, and ensure system resilience for businesses around the world. Gareth created and now leads Triton Consulting’s Z Mainframe Availability and Resiliency Service (ZMARS). ZMARS consists of 13 modules that keep mainframe systems running smoothly and securely. The service helps businesses reduce downtime and ensure their systems are resilient against failures.
Before joining Triton, Gareth spent over 12 years on IBM’s Db2 for z/OS Development SWAT Team, where he tackled complex system challenges across sectors like banking, finance, retail, and utilities. Today, as a multi-year IBM Champion and Gold Consultant, he continues to shape best practices in mainframe availability and resiliency.
An active thought leader, Gareth shares insights at IDUG and GSE UK conference talks, and authors detailed blogs that help Db2 users sharpen their skills. He regularly trains team members and presents on topics like database recovery, universal tablespaces, and data mesh.
