Free Virtual User Group: Db2 13 in Practice: Separating Essential Innovation from Nice-to-Have Enhancements

January 27 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm EST

Db2 for z/OS continues to evolve at a remarkable pace, with 57 new enhancements delivered through continuous delivery in 2025 alone—more than one per week. While this steady stream of innovation is exciting, it can also be overwhelming for practitioners trying to understand what truly matters for their environments.

In this session, Haakon Roberts, Distinguished Engineer and CTO for IBM z Data and AI, walks through the most impactful Db2 13 enhancements introduced in the second half of 2025. Drawing directly from real-world customer experience and deep involvement in Db2 development, Haakon will highlight which enhancements deliver immediate operational, performance, security, and availability value—and which may be situational or longer-term considerations.

Attendees will gain practical insight into function level 508 capabilities, distributed and observability enhancements, DDF and security improvements, utility advances, and proactive resiliency features—along with guidance on how to prioritize adoption. This session is ideal for Db2 architects, DBAs, and technical leaders who want clarity, context, and confidence when planning their Db2 roadmap.
