After IBM, Peter wrote for Cheryl Watson’s Tuning Letter and co-developed Cheryl Watson’s advanced performance courses before launching Enterprise Performance Strategies, Inc. (EPS). As President of EPS, Peter provides hands-on performance analysis, benchmarking, and performance education.

His proprietary reporting software, Pivotor®, helps organizations visualize and act on SMF data. His reputation for aligning detailed technical content with real-world performance insights makes him a trusted advisor to Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, vendors, and even IBM.

Peter is also a seasoned instructor and public speaker. His seminars on WLM, J2EE on z/OS, and UNIX System Services, reach thousands. He also regularly speaks at global industry events such as SHARE, GSE UK, CMG, and IBM zSeries Expo.

His presentation style, described as equal parts ‘rigorous and relatable,’ has earned him numerous accolades, including SHARE’s Distinguished Speaker Award and CMG’s prestigious A.A. Michelson Award for Lifetime Achievement in performance education.

Peter continues to share his expertise and wit on The Mainframe Performance Channel, where he breaks down topics ranging from capacity planning to AI’s evolving role in z/OS environments – and many acronyms in between.

“While AI will change the day-to-day z/OS performance management tasks, actual intelligence will be more necessary than ever,” Peter says.

From WLM policy tuning to demystifying SMF 72 reports, Peter remains a respected and reliable voice in mainframe performance: doing the work, teaching others how, and raising the bar.
