For Javier Estrada Benavides, Senior Lead in Systems Administration at Kyndryl, mainframe and DB2 aren’t just technologies, but passions. With 17 years of experience and numerous IBM Champion titles, Javier has mastered the technical side of database systems while shaping the next generation of leaders.
Based in Prague, Czech Republic, Javier spearheaded critical projects like the DB2 V13 migration, crafting best practices, and delivering presentations that simplify complex topics for global audiences. His GSE presentation on troubleshooting and migration tips showcased technical skill and a deep commitment to helping others succeed.
Javier’s influence, however, extends beyond technology. Known for his humility and patience, he invests deeply in mentoring others. One mentee credits Javier for transforming DB2 from “just a job into a genuine passion.” Through ongoing support, internal trainings, and one-on-one guidance, Javier helps junior team members rise to senior technical and leadership positions.
