BMC Software Wins Zinnov Award

BMC has announced that it has won the Zinnov award in the Champions in Unlocking Center Value (Enterprise IT) category.

The Zinnov Awards are the longest-running GCC awards that honor and celebrate incredible contributions from exceptional individuals and Global Capability Centers. Each year, the Zinnov Awards introduces newer categories, mirroring the changing macro-environment and business dynamics. 

The awards featured nine categories, such as Innovation, Customer Centricity, Excellence, and Intrapreneurial Leadership. From over 470 nominations across 200 companies, 28 winners were selected after a rigorous 4-step evaluation process over 2 months by a panel of 50 expert jurors from the technology sector.

According to BMC’s announcement, “This award is a testament to the incredible work done by our IT team, adding value across multiple programs, including our BMC on BMC program.”

Mainframe Skills Depot Now Offering Four Professional Certificates

In March 2024, at the SHARE conference in Orlando, IBM announced the IBM Z Mainframe Skills Depot, a no-charge, self-paced online training platform for learning the mainframe. Would-be mainframers will be able to choose from specialized tracks tailored to roles such as System Administrator, Application Developer, or Modernization Architect. 

Here’s a brief summary of the currently available certificates, as outlined by IBM Champion, Rituraj Mahato.

1. IBM Z 101 Certificate
Gain critical skills in IBM Z hardware, operating systems, and software. With hands-on labs on a live IBM Z server, you’ll be equipped for roles such as mainframe application developer, system programmer, system administrator, or DBA practitioner.

Skills include Ansible, Zowe, Docker, REXX, COBOL, VSAM, and TSO.

2. Mainframe System Administrator 201 
Develop comprehensive skills in system configuration, management, security, REXX, Db2, IMS, and CICS. This badge ensures you have the expertise to manage daily operations and tackle real-world challenges.

3. Mainframe System Administrator 301
Advance your career with high-level administrative skills in system programming, automation, performance optimization, data management, and disaster recovery. Design and implement robust solutions for large-scale mainframe infrastructures.

4. Mainframe Application Developer 201
