Misty Decker’s illustrious career spans over three decades, during which she has seamlessly navigated through four companies and ten distinct career shifts. Despite the diversity of roles, two core passions have steadfastly anchored her professional journey: an unwavering dedication to mainframe technology and a heartfelt commitment to aiding others in the field. Starting her career at IBM, Misty spent 30 years in various leadership positions, notably as the Release Manager of z/OS R1 and Mainframe Hardware Development Manager, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the mainframe landscape.

Following her tenure at IBM, Misty transitioned to Micro Focus, where she led Application Modernization Product Marketing, further honing her expertise in transitioning legacy systems to modern, agile frameworks. Currently, she serves as the US Mainframe Modernization Consulting Leader at Kyndryl and chairs the Open Mainframe Project (OMP) Modernization Working Group. In these roles, Misty continues to champion her life’s mission: to assist companies in modernizing their mainframe applications by integrating advanced methodologies such as DevOps, microservices, and cloud technologies.

Misty’s enthusiasm for mainframe modernization is palpable. “We are living in a very exciting time to be a mainframer!” said Misty. “ More and more organizations are seriously pursuing modernizing their mainframe environments, taking advantage of the new technologies and capabilities that have been introduced. I feel deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with so many amazing mainframers as we help organizations evolve.”
